Community Programming

We aim to provide social, educational, and philanthropic opportunities for every age and stage of life.

For more information on our programs, see the Calendar or contact info@jewishnla.org

Holiday Events

Holidays provide our community with the opportunity to come together to celebrate the rich traditions and customs of our Jewish heritage. Each of the Jewish holidays carries its own customs and traditions, and there is something to fit the different observances of any Jew wanting to celebrate a holiday in our community.

Jewish Film

We bring films of Jewish interest to our region that might not normally be shown here. In addition to film screenings, events will sometimes include panel discussions and lectures by individuals connected to the films.

Social Events

Fun is an important component in our communities! Look for social events on the calendar - from weekly mah jong to bowling and outdoor activities, we aim to bring fun to all ages!

Jewish Learning

Religious Schools - The Federation supports the educational efforts of all three congregations. In Shreveport, there is a combined congregational school, and B’nai Israel in Monroe has its own school. One of the Federation’s regional partners is the ISJL, and sending clergy and teachers to attend the annual ISJL Conference has been a priority for many years.

Scholars in Residence and other Educational Events - We work with local, regional, and national partners to provide quality educational experiences for a variety of interests and age groups. Recent events have  included authors, artists, comedians and academics.

Holocaust Remembrance

Since 1984, a coalition of community partners in Northwest Louisiana have held a remembrance service for victims of the Holocaust. Through our remembering and active cooperation, we strive to obliterate injustice.

Throughout Caddo and Bossier schools, students are given the option to participate in the Holocaust Remembrance Literary and Arts Competition. Students learn about the Holocaust, and produce poems, stories, essays, or musical compositions.
